AI platform and SaaS development

The model is the easy part. The platform around it — billing, queues, quotas, provider failover, team accounts — is where AI products succeed or quietly fall over.

AI platform and SaaS development

What a production AI platform needs

Calling a model API takes an afternoon. Running a business on it takes considerably more, and the gap between a working demo and a product you can charge for is almost entirely infrastructure.

  • Multi-provider routing. Several providers behind one internal API, so a price change, an outage or a deprecation is a configuration change rather than a rewrite.
  • Credit ledgers and metered billing. Accurate per-generation cost accounting and a ledger that reconciles against provider invoices.
  • Job queues. Slow, failure-prone work belongs in a queue with retries, dead-letter handling and progress a user can watch.
  • Quotas and rate limits per user, per team and per plan, so one customer cannot exhaust your provider budget.
  • Team accounts, roles and shared workspaces.
  • Model lifecycle handling. Providers deprecate constantly; the roster has to survive that without breaking saved work.
  • MCP servers so other agents and tools can drive your product directly.

Common questions

Which model providers can you work with?

Any provider with a documented API. The architecture puts them behind one internal interface precisely so you are never locked to a single supplier.

How do you handle model deprecations?

Models are entries in a roster with their own pricing, capabilities and lifecycle state. When a provider retires one, it is marked deprecated and traffic moves to a replacement without breaking saved work.

What is an MCP server and do we need one?

Model Context Protocol is how AI agents call external tools. An MCP server lets agents use your product directly. Worth building if your customers are technical or you expect agent-driven usage — otherwise it can wait.

Can you work with our existing backend?

Yes. Most of this work is additive — a model gateway, a ledger and a queue alongside what you already run, rather than a rewrite of it.

If your process today is an email, a sketch, and somebody rebuilding it by hand afterwards — that's the problem I work on.
